3 Steps to Optimize the Prime of Your Life (Part 1)

 

When I was training to compete on American Ninja Warrior I was young, cocky, thought I knew it all, and thought I was preparing in all the right ways to be at the top of my game for the show. 

 

 

I had all the energy in the world to train, my body was getting stronger and more agile (or so I thought), and I was eating healthy foods on top of not drinking ANY alcohol. 

 

 

I was doing all the things we are told are smart, healthy, and the right way to improve our fitness and yet something crazy happened... 

 

I hit a plateau and my results started going the opposite direction. 

 

Something that didn't make sense to me because I was doing all the right things. Wasn't I? 

 

A lot of my clients, who are in the prime years of their life, experience the same thing and can't seem to figure out what's going on either.

 

Sounds familiar, right? 

 

Fortunately as a fitness professional, I was able to take a step back and recognize a few things I was doing wrong.

 

First off I was training for an intense competition, which means I was incorporating all these extreme exercise sessions into my daily life. 

Something my clients experience from social media, commercials, and fitness professionals pushing High Intense Interval Training, or other extreme exercise routines with no real purpose other than to feel destroyed at the end of each workout. 

 

Second I was eating healthy foods, but in all the wrong portions.
Yes, I was putting healthy foods in my body, but I had no real understanding of how to balance it all out in the correct portions for me, my body, or my training. 

 

 

 

Luckily I wasn't doing what most people do, which is hop on fad diet after fad diet and wonder why they aren't seeing consistent lifestyle results.

 

Lastly is what really jumpstart my results back up and ultimately created the 1st Step in my Simplify Your Fitness program. 

Step 1:

The Less is More Project

Because I started implementing my LESS IS MORE step I was able to focus my training, correctly dial in my nutrition, and add, at the very least, an hour back into my days. 

 

Not only did I start doing that for myself, when I realized how many of my clients were going through what I experienced, I had them take this first step as well. 

 

By identifying where they needed to take that Less is More step to uncomplicate their own fitness journey's we were able to jump start their weight loss goals, clothes fitting better, shirts filling out and fitting the way they should, as well as seeing an energy they hadn't experienced since their teenage years. 

 

So the 1st Step in order to optimize the Prime Years of your Life is to ask yourself this...

 

Where am I overcomplicating my fitness?

- Am I taking on too many intense workouts?

- Is my nutrition where it needs to be for me?

- Am I allowing my body to recover to optimize the work I'm putting in?

 

From there you have two options:

1) Make some adjustments and hope for the best...
