"Bryant, I want to know YOUR SECRET" 

How do you keep beer/wine/snacks in your diet and still have the body you do?

I know you enjoy your beer and chips, I just want to know how you do it so I can do it too. 

Anyone else ever feel like this?
Wanting your cake and being able to eat it too?

Of course, we all do...

 

Yesterday I met up with a friend who asked me this exact question...

To him and many others,  It makes no sense!

 
- Do you skip meals?
- Is it because you're still young?
- Do you just have good genetics?
- What foods are you cutting out of your diet?
- Do you just not indulge unless it's the weekend?
- Are you saving your calories so you can drink or eat more?

 
 

What is your SECRET I need to know!!


I looked at my friend George as we were talking over a couple delicious IPA's, at
Bradley Brew Project in Bradley Beach, NJ, and said those are good questions,

They are not  the question you should be asking or focusing on though...


I don't;
Skip meals,
Save calories,
Cut ANY foods out of my diet,
 
 
I Indulge when I want and my age and genetics are what they are.
 
 
I do;
Focus on healthy foods I enjoy,
Include ALL food groups and categories,
Fuel my body throughout the day,
Follow the phrase Water first, Veggies Most. 


 

When it comes to nutrition the biggest change I made came a couple years ago (in 2016) when I realized how OFF and out of whack my portions really were.

 
If you're like me when it comes to nutrition programs;
  • I don't like being told what not to eat
  • I'm not interested in what I need to cut out of my diet, (we know this already)
  • I don't want to weigh foods out,
  • Being super strict gives me anxiety,
  • I don't want to count calories,
  • I don't want to drink shakes or eat bars all day long, ( real food is what I want)
  • And I sure as hell don't want to be part of any fad diets

 

How did I realize my portions were off then? 
 

Truth is I love a good challenge,


So I challenged myself to take on a new program and proven system head on. 

 

For 2 months, I followed a workout program and Nutrition program that introduced me to a system that allowed me to choose foods I was putting in my system. 


Yes I know, I did what I said I wouldn't do and hopped in a program that had me tracking my food intake. 

What was different about this was that I just had to count the containers I was having and the calories, foods, and portions balanced out themselves.

 


This system provided me lists of nutrient dense food options that I enjoyed without restricting foods that weren't on the list of food options,

 

Instead teaching me how to incorporate ALL foods (like my craft beers, chips, ice cream, pizza, etc) into my diet and balancing them throughout the day. 


Nothing was off limits, as long as I included it into my daily log. 

By doing this I realized I needed a big change when it came to my portions...

**this was on my plan, each plan varies depending on your goals and needs**

I was only getting 1-2 containers, or servings, of vegetables/greens,
When I needed to hit 8-9 green containers,

My good fats were low as well and needed a boost, 

And my good carbohydrates and protein intake was through the roof. 

I finally realized why my energy was going up and down like a yo-yo throughout the week, and also why I was constantly bloated. 

 
I fixed my portions and balanced them out by following a system that is so simple stupid, your kids could easily do it. 
 


That's my big secret!!

Fix your Portions in order to Fix your Waistline!

Stop;

Skipping meals,

Saving calories for later or the weekend,

Cutting out foods or food groups from your diet,

Your body and its digestive system are smarter than your tricks.

 
Skipping meals regularly = Slower Metabolism
 
Saving calories for later = Greater Amounts of Nutrient Depleted foods
 
Cutting out food groups/foods = Messing up your digestive system
 

You can have your cake and eat it too,

If you understand how to properly fuel your body!
