How do you keep beer/wine/snacks in your diet and still have the body you do?
Yesterday I met up with a friend who asked me this exact question...
To him and many others, It makes no sense!
How did I realize my portions were off then?
Truth is I love a good challenge,
So I challenged myself to take on a new program and proven system head on.
For 2 months, I followed a workout program and Nutrition program that introduced me to a system that allowed me to choose foods I was putting in my system.
Yes I know, I did what I said I wouldn't do and hopped in a program that had me tracking my food intake.
What was different about this was that I just had to count the containers I was having and the calories, foods, and portions balanced out themselves.
This system provided me lists of nutrient dense food options that I enjoyed without restricting foods that weren't on the list of food options,
Instead teaching me how to incorporate ALL foods (like my craft beers, chips, ice cream, pizza, etc) into my diet and balancing them throughout the day.
Nothing was off limits, as long as I included it into my daily log.
By doing this I realized I needed a big change when it came to my portions...
**this was on my plan, each plan varies depending on your goals and needs**
I was only getting 1-2 containers, or servings, of vegetables/greens,
When I needed to hit 8-9 green containers,
My good fats were low as well and needed a boost,
And my good carbohydrates and protein intake was through the roof.
I finally realized why my energy was going up and down like a yo-yo throughout the week, and also why I was constantly bloated.
